Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO is personally denying rumours in which are saying that Facebook was involved in the National Security Agency’s secret PRISM Internet surveillance program! Describing the press reports regarding PRISM as ‘outrageous’ Zuckerberg went on to say that prior to the reports Facebook had not even heard of PRISM so it came as much as a shock to them as it did to others reading the reports!

He explained that when governments request data from Facebook they review each individual request extremely carefully and constantly ensure that they  always follow the correct processes, only going on to provide information if required by the law. He said that they fight ‘aggressively’ to ensure personal information is kept safe and their complete and utmost aim is to protect the safety of the public.

A Facebook statement released before Zuckerberg’s statement vouched for this saying “Protecting the privacy of our users and their date is a top priority for Facebook.” And later goes on to talk about how they “provide information only to the extent required by law.”
